Capoeira with orphans and children in children’s homes on the outskirts of Berlin, since 1 September 1999.

Description of the project:

Mobile Capoeira music and dance lessons, as well as participatory events for disabled and disadvantaged children and teenagers in children’s homes and orphanages on the outskirts of Berlin. Through Capoeira the children gain confidence and a greater sense of self, as well as learning ways to deal with life’s day to day challenges.

Our pilot Capoeira project with special needs’ schools

Support of Afro-Brazilian culture with Berlin’s children and teenagers

1 August 1996 – 31 July 1998, supported by the YOUTH AND FAMILY FOUNDATION OF THE STATE OF BERLIN (jfsb).

Music and sports therapy in the form of workshops, cultural and ecological tuition, as well as the comprehensive development of verbal and rhythmic skills. We assist and support the street kids of multicultural Berlin on their journey to find their individual identities, improving self confidence and giving new perspectives to their lives.

Street Kids of Nanuque

10 October 1995 – 26 February 1997

Support of our partner organisation in Nanuque, Minas Gerais (Brazil) by raising 2.6 tons of contributions (toys, children’s and adults’ clothing) for the local street kid care centres.

Our thanks go to VW TRANSPORT, BIZERBA, GAROTO CHOCOLATES, and also to the HONORARY CONSUL HELMUT MEYERFREUND for his generous support, ensuring that donations actually reached the street kids themselves.
